Responsibilities:

1. Developing innovative products meeting needs of consumer, in line with innovation Agenda. It includes-

  • Understand our current product innovation status and identify gaps/consumer need states.
  • Scan the environment and identify emerging trends in snack market (biscuits). Create consumer relevant offerings based on the above.
  • Develop formulations that   suit consumer product preferences .Key accountability is the formulation suits regulatory /cost implication, has a robust route to market and the formulation thus selected is quality and safety compliance.
  • Basic understanding of raw materials being used in Snack (Biscuit) food industries and its role and importance.
  • Pilot and lab trials for initial product screening .Plant trials for the selected initiatives .
  • Work closely with quality team to ensure consistent product performance.
  • Support development of testing protocols for ongoing analysis and track shelf life of a product.
  • Track in market competitor product performance with evaluation of competitors’ product on regular frequency.
  • Track regulatory changes and relevance to category; develop a 3 year forecast for regulatory related changes necessary for the category. With focus on PFA, and CODEX.

2. Manufacturing Processes

  • Understand the current and proposed manufacturing processes to quantify the impact on ingredient levels, sensorial etc.
  • Conduct trials at pilot plant and manufacturing sites to establish and validate the processing techniques
  • Create specification (PFD, process specs) documents and secure sign off from Supply chain stakeholders
  • Manage trial accounts and inventory reconciliations for all product trials.

3. Generate S&T information base by reviewing periodically various products appearing in various markets (for example through market visits etc) and provide evaluation report giving inputs on –

  • product
  • targeted consumer
  • claims made
  • ingredients enabling such claims

4. Network with research institutions, global S&T’s and suppliers -

  • Develop and conduct proper clinical trials whenever necessary ( to support product claims).
  • Generate support for The orgn to support its position on Product Innovation (S&T specific) issues and its products.

6. Provide technical support to Regulatory and Legal for-

  • Providing scientific data satisfying external queries from consumer and revision in confectionery standards.


7.Category related Database creation on   ingredient specs and   new  formulation.

8. Formulate Blueprints for all category based formulations so as to explore potential ideas for value optimizations in recipes. This should  serve as the pipeline for Value optimized products for a 3 year forecast.

9. Specific accountability for application Lab infrastructure up gradation.


Essential:

M. Sc Food science, Food science and Nutrition, BTech food engineering with 5-7 yrs experience (in a reputed FMCG company) with excellent track record in development, manufacturing and quality control of products in the FMCG sector.

Academic profile can be a combination of (a) Food science, (b) Food Technology
